    Bit to Do

There are ten days left until Christmas! Apologies if you had not yet realized that. Time is running out to get a chance to see Santa Claus, make sure your list is seen and checked twice, and get that annual picture of Santa and your children. Here are some opportunities that are still available throughout the area to have a visit with the jolly old elf.

Christmas at the Galt House Hotel

A great venue downtown at the Galt House Hotel, this is where Christmas has come to life for the city. Santa is available each day of the event, and there is a lot to do for families. This weekend there is a Breakfast with Santa and Snow Fairy Princess Tea Party. Christmas at the Galt House Hotel continues through January 1.

At 4th Street Live and the 40 Nights of Lights program ongoing now until January 4 , they have an event called Saturdays with Santa. The last one is this coming weekend, Saturday, December 20 from 5pm-7pm at Light Up Plaza and 4th and Jefferson. Get your picture with Santa in his castle; bring a canned good or dollar donation for Dare to Care. Also this Saturday is Disney Princesses at Holiday Village and 4th Street Live. The event is from 2pm-6pm, along with the usual all day events associated with 40 Nights of Lights.

The Yew Dell Dardens holiday train exhibit, called Yew Dell Express, is on my family's holiday bucket list this year. There is one more weekend to attend this event: December 20 from 10am-4pm and December 21 from 12pm-4pm.

There are always photos with Santa at the area malls, including Green Tree Mall, Jefferson Mall, Oxmoor Center, and Matt St. Matthews. Each individual mall has varying hours and prices.

At Toyland Christmas in south Louisville, an actual visit with Santa has already occurred, but this neighborhood holiday light-up is a must see. There's a cute little Santa's workshop house and a picture of Santa talking to children through the window, so it's a great experience. The lights are on until December 26.

A Coca Cola Christmas at Louisville Slugger Museum will offer Santa visits on select Saturdays, the last one being December 20. The exhibit runs through January 5, and children ages 12 and under can enter free starting Dec 20-Jan 5.

Bass Pro Shops is a great venue for holiday memory making traditions with your family. Most people I have seen comment about their Bass Pro Shop experience rave about it. Events are ongoing until December 24.

Marks Feed Store in Fern Creek will have a Christmas party this Tuesday, December 16 and Santa will be there as well; the party is from 6pm-8pm.

Attend Breakfast with Santa at Mega Caverns and see Santa, and help support a great cause at the same time. This event is on Saturday, December 20 beginning at 8am and raises money for a local family's adoption of their daughter. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 2-12. Reservations are required.
