Since 1986, Derby Dinner Playhouse has been committed to presenting theatre as both entertainment and education for young students. The 2013-14 season will be no different as the children's theatre presents four varied works for the young and young of heart to enjoy.

During the season, Derby Dinner children's theatre will present Miss Nelson Has a Field Day (now playing), Jingle Arrgh the Way (Nov.-Dec.), The Jungle Book (Feb-March 2014), and Princess Penelope's Dragon (May-June 2014). All performances are to happen at Derby Dinner Playhouse, located at 525 Marriott Drive in Clarksville, IN.

Opening the season is Miss Nelson Has a Field Day, featuring a coach who hires Viola Swamp to help the Smedley Tomatoes win a football game - or at least score a point. Miss Nelson is going on now until Nov. 9.

For the Christmas season, the children's theatre goes Jingle Arrgh the Way, featuring pirates who sail on an adventure to the North Pole. The adventure runs Nov. 16-Dec. 21.

Derby Dinner children's theatre will next dive into the classics with Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book. A boy grows up in the jungles of India learning life lessons from his animal friends along the way. Jungle Book takes place Feb. 22-Mar. 29.

Last but certainly not least is the production Princess Penelope's Dragon. In this tale of learning honesty and respect, a precocious princess blames everything on her pink dragon. Princess Penelope's Dragon will go on May 24-June 28.

Public performances are to happen on Saturday mornings and midday. Like the mainstage shows, all public performances will include buffets.

Season tickets and individual show tickets are available. Season tickets for children are $28 for breakfast and $38 for lunch. Adult season tickets are $56 for breakfast and $76 for lunch.

Breakfast individual shows, meanwhile, begin at 9 a.m. and cost $16 per person. Lunch individual shows start at noon and cost $21 per person.

All tickets, when they become available, can be purchased at the Derby Dinner box office, the Derby Dinner website, or by calling Derby Dinner Playhouse at 812-288-2636.

More information on the shows, including lesson plans and performances for school groups, can be found at the Derby Dinner children's theatre website.
