It's been five years since the first The Ravenna Colt album and for bandleader Johnny Quaid. It's also been 11 years since he was a My Morning Jacket member on a My Morning Jacket album but from "Absolute Contingency," it sounds like he's got some more of that early MMJ sound he was a part of in him.

"Absolute Contingency," premiered by Blurt Magazine, comes in anticipation of The Ravenna Colt's new album called Terminal Current to be released on February 10.

The song is a nice antidote to the harsh weather we have now. It's warm and goes down easy. The track is nearly five minutes long. It could keep on going and I wouldn't get tired of it. The guitar (acoustic and electric) work is beautiful and works together very well. Every song has its moment and this great Americana tune might be best for watching the world go by either in a car or a porch.

The Ravenna Colt raised money to create Terminal Current via, a site where a contributor could receive items like a a digital download, signed vinyl, or even an private acoustic performance. They reached their goal on November 8. You can preorder the album here.

Release shows will soon be announced.
