Formed in 1996, STRAIGHT NO CHASER began performing at charity events and
sorority functions on the Indiana University campus. In less than two
years, they were touring nationally; opening for acts like Lou Rawls,
performing at Chicago Cubs and Sox games, the Brickyard 400, and even New
York's Carnegie Hall and have appeared on the CBS Morning Show. They have
released six albums and a DVD and received two College A Cappella Recording
Awards for their album Last Call. In 2005, the group performed in the
finals of the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella after
placing first in the regional and divisional competitions.
STRAIGHT NO CHASER's version of "The 12 Days of Christmas", performed by the
original members in 1998, received more than 7 million views in December
2007 alone on YouTube, becoming the hottest viral video of the season. Even
today, the video is ranked as the 63rd most-viewed entertainment video of
all time on YouTube.
This event is supported in part by the Louisville/Southern Indiana Chapter
of the Indiana University Alumni Association. There will be an Indiana
University Alumni pre-concert reception with the group starting at 6:00 at
New Albany High School. All area IU alumni are invited to attend.
