If you haven't heard Relic play, you have been sorely missing out. I first heard the Bibelhauser Brothers at their cd release party at Uncle Slayton's. Jeff Guernsey just happened to have a flyer up in his Conservatory of Music where I taught violin lessons at the time. Of course Jeff is an awesome fiddler (and jack of all trades on a gazillion different instruments), so I decided to go to the show. Aaron and Adam Bibelhauser turned out to be amazing musicians too, particularly their vocal harmonies are most impressive. Shortly after this concert, I started following Relic, their bluegrass band, on Facebook.
Relic fuses multiple genres keeping their bluegrass relevant and modern. Their songwriting is rich with vocal harmonies and colorful instrumentation. The principal members of the band include twin brothers Aaron Bibelhauser (on banjo) and Adam Bibelhauser (on bass), Chuck Sharp (guitar), and Dave Howard (mandolin). Percussionist Tavis Conley, guest fiddler Jeff Guernsey, and other talented musicians also set in from time to time to fill out the sound.
Tomorrow night Relic will be kicking off their fifth year of weekly, Wednesday bluegrass music at the Monkey Wrench. This is also a FREE event, can't get much better than that. So come take a load off, enjoy some great music, be in good company, and drink a beer.
WHEN: Wednesday, March 6th @ 9pm-midnight
WHERE: Monkey Wrench, 1025 Barret Ave
