Arcadia exists in two time periods, the present and in 1809. At the Coverly estate, in the English countryside, in 1809, Lady Thomasina, a 13-year-old, and her tutor deal with issues of the intellectual and the romantic.

In present day, Coverly descendants and scholars investigate a scandal involving Lord Byron that occurred around 1809 involving the estate. During the investigation, they figure out more to Lady Thomasina's story that what was originally told.

The play deals with themes of, among other things, truth and time and the effect of sex on life.

Tom Stoppard created Arcadia, which Rich Galey directed. The cast includes Kevin Butler, Katie Hay, Tom Pettey, Tom Trudgeon, Chet Gray, John Hess, Candy Thomas, Howard Whitman, Maggie Hartman, Drew Koch, Jayme Thomas, and Rich Williams.

Arcadia first premiered in London in 1993 at the Royal National Theatre. The play landed on Broadway in the Vivian Beaumon Theatre in 1995.  It was revied at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre for a limited run in 2011.
