Who says adults can’t have just as much summer fun as kids? Even if you’re no longer in school and you aren’t respectfully observing a two-month break from homework, you can still treat summer as the magical time you longed for as a child. And if you’re a graduate of the University of Louisville, there’s no better place to celebrate the summer and see some friendly familiar faces than U of L Night at Shakespeare in the Park!

Kentucky Shakespeare along with the University of Louisville Alumni Association and College of Arts and Sciences invite all graduates of the university to attend tonight’s free performance of “The Tempest” in Central Park while wearing red to show their school spirit.

Directed by Kentucky Shakespeare’s talented producing artistic director, Matt Wallace, “The Tempest” is one of Shakespeare’s last comedies and tells the exciting story of a shipwreck, a magical island and spunky spirits among other classically creative Shakespearean characters. With beautiful scenery showcasing actors in harnesses flying across the stage, it’s a production you definitely won’t want to miss.

And this special “red out” event will also feature a presentation given by theater arts professor, Rinda Frye on the dramatist’s “Magical Metaphysical Theater.” Professor Frye is best known for her thorough experience with Shakespeare productions and is sure to capture the attention of all audience members in attendance.

U of L night at Shakespeare in the Park is tonight, July 23rd at the C. Douglass Ramey Amphitheater in Old Louisville’s Central Park. Professor Frye’s presentation is scheduled to begin at 7:15pm, with the performance of “The Tempest” following at 8pm. Available bench seating is first come, first serve so bringing lawn chairs and blankets is encouraged. Free street parking is available throughout Old Louisville surrounding Central Park. And as always, admission to Shakespeare in the Park is free.
