Jeffersontown is full of history and modern day charm at the same time. It is home to my family and where I worked for many years. The Mayor and his team of councilwomen and councilmen are working hard to revitalize the downtown area near Gaslight Square. Many businesses thrive in Bluegrass Commerce Park. And the city of Jeffersontown offers many family-friendly events, eateries, and sports options almost weekly, sometimes daily.
For instance, this weekend the Jeffersontown Farmers’ Market is hosting an Arts and Crafts day at the market on Saturday, May 25 from 8am-12:30pm. Before heading to the farmer’s market (or afterwards), check out the indoor yard sale going on at Jeffersontown Christian Church, located at 10631 Taylorsville Road. The marquee outside indicated it would start at 8am.
Also noteworthy in Jeffersontown is the local roadside market, Tower View Farm & Nursery. You can get anything from shrubs, trees, flowers, jams, and locally produced honey, among other items. This roadside market is located at 12523 Taylorsville Road.
In the mood for a sweet treat after your barbequing all weekend long? SweetFrog Louisville just opened a new location in the shopping center on S. Hurstbourne Lane next to Gigi’s Cupcakes. There’s also a 32 Degrees frozen yogurt place in the Tyler Village Shopping Center. Treat your family to some good froyo this Memorial Day weekend!
Saturday, May 25 is opening day for the Plainview Swim Center. You can check out more details about season passes or daily passes by clicking here.
On Sunday, May 26, the city of Jeffersontown will be honoring veterans with a Memorial Day Observed service at Jeffersontown Veterans Memorial Park. The service will be held from 6pm-8pm.
There are all types of little league teams, basketball camps, and swim and dive team options within various venues in Jeffersontown. SkyZone Louisville is located in the heart of the industrial park and offers everything from birthday parties to trampoline jumping to dodge ball and Skyrobics. There is now a group drumming up interest in bringing a baseball team to Jeffersontown. Follow their Bring Minor League Baseball to Jeffersontown Facebook page for updates.
Check out all that Jeffersontown has to offer! Between the Jeffersontown Library, Plainview pool, farmer’s market, and great parks located very close, you and your family will find tons of places for memory making.
