    Steel Magnolias

Truvy's beauty salon is the center of conversation, getting hair done, and coping with a personal tragedy in Steel Magnolias, which opens at Hayswood Theatre tomorrow.

Steel Magnolias will go on Oct. 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, and 18 at 8 p.m. each night. Matinees are to go on Oct. 5, 12, and 19 at 2 p.m. each day. All performances are to go on at Hayswood Theatre, located at 115 S. Capitol Ave. in Corydon, IN.

Tickets for each show are $14 for adults, $12 for seniors, and $12 for students. Due to limited seating, purchases in advance are highly recommended and can be done by calling 812-738-2138.

Steel Magnolias takes its audience to Truvy's beauty salon in small town Louisiana, where the salon is the center of conversation, gossip, and ladies getting their hair done. Among those ladies is the wise-cracking Truvy, Truvy's assistant Annelle, who doesn't know if she's still married, the rick, eccentric Miss Clairee, the social leader M'Lynn, and her daughter Shelby, the so-called prettiest girl in town. Humor, wisecracks, and hair is all over the place in this salon.

Times are good until one of the ladies suddenly passes away, forcing all of them to reflect on their mortality and, utlimately, find strength and love.

Russell Spencer directed Steel Magnolias for Hayswood Theatre. Robert Harling created the production as a way of coping with the loss of his sister.
