Strive is a local organization that aims to provide arts and wellness education and services to the Louisville community, co-founded by Nina Rodahaffer and Cheynne Mize. Both are names you might recognize from the local music scene, but you probably didn’t know that Rodahaffer has been a nurse for six years and Mize has been using music therapy throughout the state.

You can support Strive this weekend at StriveFest, being held at La La Land, a recording studio on Lexington Road where a few lil’ ol’ bands like My Morning Jacket and Houndmouth have recorded albums. Producer and Twin Limb member Kevin Ratterman operates La La Land.

Music entertainment for the event includes Appalatin, Small Time Napoleon and Howell Dawdy. There will also be jug band instrument making and a drum circle, with DJ Alli closing out the night with some live horns and drums.

The event is from 2 p.m. – 10 p.m. and costs $10 for adults, $5 for anyone under 12 years old. New Wave Burritos, normally a late night burrito delivery business for Germantown residents, will be serving food. West Sixth, Bell’s and Bluegrass Brewing Company will be serving beer. There will be street parking available on Lexington Road and Cooper Avenue, as well as at Fresh Start Growers Supply (the location of Flea Off Market) just down the street.
