    by Michelle Jones First, Vincenzo’s has opened up an outdoor dining section in their courtyard. It’s a gorgeous outdoor dining space made even more beautiful I’m told by custom made mosaic table tops. To celebrate their patio dining section Vincenzo’s will be offering special pizzas for lunch on the patio including a Pizza Margherita, made with tomato, sliced mozzarella, basil and extra virgin olive oil and Pizza Rustica which has with assorted Italian meats, fresh ricotta and mozzarella cheeses. Normally if I’m going to Vincenzo’s I want something that says “fine dining” a little bit more than pizza but pizza on the patio sounds quite lovely. Business lunch at Vincenzo’s next week anyone? The pizzas are $9.95. Second, Proof on Main is celebrating national ice cream month (that’s July in case you didn’t know) by donating all proceeds from July’s ice cream and sorbet sales to the Louisville Deaf Oral School and Kosair Children’s Hospital Foundation. A few weeks ago I had a dulce de leche gelato at Proof that was fantastic. Chef Michael Paley is a creating machine apparently and he’s fine tuning his recipes for using fresh berries and melons from the local area for new ice cream and sorbet flavors. This is the third year in a row Proof has raised money for charity in this manner. Last year the restaurant raised $4528. That’s an impressive donation particularly when you consider it all came courtesy of ice cream and sorbet consumption. Hope you had a safe and celebratory fourth and hurry back downtown for pizza and ice cream (perhaps even on the same day) next week.
