    It's taco night. I've been in a taco night supper club for three years now. The group has changed a little bit through the years but the core membership is pretty much the same. Even as we grow into different people, we keep this little tradition going because of a strong common bond; an insane love for the taco. 

    While taco night is often a potluck event at a member's house, sometimes we venture out into Louisville to try different local taco joints. Our search for authentic, delicious tacos often leads us all over Louisville. Far south on Bardstown Road, there is a taco truck in the Eastland Shopping Center. There, you can get my friend's favorite corn dish, elote, a mix of corn, parmesan cheese, mayonnaise, and chili powder in a cup. Sometimes you can find this dish on the cob. Last week, a taco night member and I munched on fantastic Mexican style tacos (cilantro and onion versus the American cheese, lettuce, and tomato version) at La Torta Loca at 7200 Preston Highway. They have some of their meats cooking on a rotisserie outside. I had the lengua (tongue) tacos which were delicious. My friend had pastor (pork) and chorizo. The tables have jugs of salsa and sauces for you to add at will, but be careful with the red sauce, it is no joke h-o-t. Last month, we all ventured far into Lyndon off LaGrange Road where we found an unlikely strip mall of Mexican delights. Hugged between two great Mexican restaurants,  El Tarasco and El Mariachi, is a Mexican grocery, butcher, and bakery. In addition there was a taco truck and tortilla factory that to my great chagrin, was not open. We chowed down at El Mariachi where their creamy queso dip is only $2.99 an order and the special for the day was pupusas. Served with a vinegar slaw, these little masa pouches filled with beans and cheese were a welcome addition to my trio of tacos. 

    So venture out Louisville! Everyone loves a good taco.
