    Bit to Do

Getting a tattoo can be a big step for someone, but would it change your mind if it was for a great cause? Don’t miss out on the opportunity Tattoo Charlie’s is hosting to make a big difference for many lives! I know what you're thinking, tattoos and charity? Don't sound so surprised, though. On Monday, November 17th, Tattoo Charlie’s will be hosting their fourth annual Tattoos Against Cancer.

Tattoo Charlie’s has arranged for all three studios to tattoo cancer ribbons all day for charity. “Charlie, my dad, has taught me the value of giving back to the community with the charity work he did,” said Buddy Wheeler, son of Tattoo Charlie. All three studios will have a page of awareness ribbons to choose from and only ask for a minimum donation of $30. All proceeds will go toward Meghan’s Mountain Charitable Foundation.

Meghan’s Mountain was started by Meghan Steinberg, who battled against Leukemia herself. Meghan’s Mountain’s mission is simple; according to the website, Meghan’s Mountain is “founded on the principles of helping others overcome their struggles with cancer, Meghan's Mountain provides a conduit for charitable donations to organizations in the state of Kentucky with a small percentage going to the Children’s Hospital in Seattle, Washington. The mission is simple. To let every child and adult know that they do not climb their mountain alone. Not today. Not tomorrow. Not ever!” With all the profits going towards those who are directly affected by cancer and their families, how can you not support such a great organization?

Apparently, everyone else agrees! Over the last three years, Tattoos Against Cancer raised over $17,000 for Meghan’s Mountain. Tattoo Charlie’s hopes to surpass their record and have the biggest crowd yet this year! The Preston Highway location will be open from 9:00am until 1:00am. The Dixie Highway studio will be open from noon until 8:00pm. The Lexington studio will be open from 11:00am-9:00pm. Make sure you get there early because no appointments will be taken this day and it will be based on walk-ins only. Not only is this a great event, but there will be guests worth meeting at two different locations. At the Preston Highway location, Meghan’s dad, Jerry Steinberg, will be there to thank you all for supporting a great cause and a lot of families. Also at the Preston Highway location, Denny Crum will be signing autographs from 12:30pm-2:30pm. Having been a supporter for many years, he will also thank you for joining the team and providing support.

While a tattoo can sound like a big step, think about the strides you are taking to help Meghan’s Mountains and those who need your support. Funding is always needed in the hospitals and for these families who wish to support their loved ones. So many people have been affected by cancer, whether it is their loved ones or themselves; this is the perfect opportunity to make the difference. Besides, a little hurt doesn't hurt any body. Come down to any of the three locations and pick your ribbon, pick your color, then pick a seat. But if you’re not ready to get inked, don’t hesitate to stop by and make a simply donation any way!
