Author Neil Gaiman once said “the world always seems brighter when you’ve just made something that wasn’t there before.” And the world certainly seemed brighter when this award-winning European author announced earlier this year that he would be making his way to Bowling Green, Kentucky in early October.

As part of Western Kentucky University’s Cultural Enhancement Series, Neil Gaiman will be featured as the guest of honor as Dr. David Bell of the university’s English department hosts a public interview with the author.

This series, which has previously brought both Soledad O’Brien and Bill Nye to Western Kentucky University, strives to introduce audiences to new ideas and viewpoints. So it’s no surprise that Neil Gaiman has been chosen as a featured guest.

As the author of over 35 books including “Stardust” and “Coraline,” both of which have been adapted to successful major films, Gaiman is undeniably one of the most talented writers of our time.

Winner of both Newbery and Carnegie awards, this impressive author’s work in literature has been celebrated by readers and critics all over the world since he first began writing in the 1980’s. And today, Gaiman can be found on the list of Top 10 Best Living Post-Modern Writers in the Dictionary of Literary Biography.

It has recently been announced that his latest novella, “The Ocean at the End of the Lane,” which was released in the summer of 2013, is now in the works of becoming a film directed by the award-winning director, Joe Wright. Details about the cast and the release date for the film have not yet been released, but just the promise of the adaptation is worth getting excited about.

Fans can sit in on Neil Gaiman’s interview on Tuesday, October 6 at 7:30pm at Van Meter Hall on Western Kentucky University’s campus in Bowling Green. Admission to this event is free and open to the public! Seating is limited.
