Breathe from the deep spot, let your noggin tingle. And then baby boys and girls, speak. Throw that shit on the ground, your evidence does not have to be profound, just found, from the lost and willing to share. Share, baby boys and girls, share. We’re all hungry, ready to eat. On the treat of the feat of the sweet-sweet soul that’s stirring underneath. Yes, yes, you hear me.

Best believe I’m going to sway and stay to tell you that on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 5:30 pm, Slant Culture Theatre Festival presents “Unraveling Our Navels So That We May Ingest the Sun,” a slam poetry reading at Walden Theatre. The reading features The Loohavul Lip in collaboration with Louisville Literary Arts and is directed by Lance Newman.

Unfamiliar with slam poetry and/or spoken word? Never fear dear-dear, The Lip is here to inform and demonstrate the culture of each movement, for your heart, soul, ears. Lemme just say. This ain’t yo mama’s poetry reading, OK? Things are gonna get noisy. Wild ‘n out. Plus: Musical. Political. Competitive. And more than anything, entertaining. See, slam poets don’t just read: They perform.

Tickets are $12 online and at the door. Step into this. As two time National Poetry Slam Champion Anis Mojgani starts one of his best: “Come closer. Come into this. Come closer.”

*Credit for title “Unraveling Our Navels...” goes to international superstar slam poet+more, Saul Williams. (#1 stunna.)
