"On this stage under the circumstances...the filly in the gates, the paddock, how congested it is, how many people are here, this doesn't get any bigger," said Asmussen.

The start of the race was delayed after Empress of Midway flipped backward in the starting gate, requiring the gate crew to open the starting gate in order to extract her. On-track veterinarian Larry Bramlage quickly made the decision to scratch the filly. Empress of Midway was escorted to the paddock where she remained during the running of the race, awaiting its conclusion in order to return to the barn.

Todd Pletcher said of his second-place finisher My Miss Sophia, "I thought My Miss Sophia ran very well. She was well clear of the third-place horse. I'm very proud of her effort in just her fourth start."

Untapable returned $4.00, $3.20, and $2.60. My Miss Sophia paid $4.20 and $4.40 and completed the $2 exacta for $21.80. Unbridled paid $6.00 and completed the $0.50 trifecta for $44.55. Rosalind finished fourth to complete the $1 superfecta for $298.90. The final time for the 1 1/8 mile race over the fast dirt was 1:48.68.

The complete order of finish was Untapable, My Miss Sophia, Unbridled Forever, Rosalind, Thank You Marylou, Ria Antonia, Got Lucky, Sugar Shock, Aurelia's Belle, Please Explain, Fashion Plate and Kiss Moon.
