    Montrezl Harrell tallied 24 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the White team to an 89-86 victory over the Red on Sunday afternoon in the University of Louisville men’s basketball team’s second intrasquad scrimmage at the KFC Yum! Center.

    Harrell, a 6-foot-8 junior forward and preseason All-American, was 9 for 18 from the field, including 1 of 7 from 3-point range, and 5 of 6 from the free throw line. He led four double-figure scorers for the White. Sophomore guard Terry Rozier added 19 points, six rebounds, five assist

    Anas Mahmoud

    - added 18 and 13 points respectively.

    Senior point guard Chris Jones led the Red in a losing effort with 28 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Senior swingman Wayne Blackshear added 20 points while sophomore guard Anton Gill contributed 15. Meanwhile sophomore center Mangok Mathiang produced a double-double with 13 points and 16 rebounds.

    The Cardinals, who are No. 9 in USA Today’s preseason coaches poll, play their first exhibition game at 12:30 p.m. next Saturday, when they host Barry (Fla.) University at the Yum Center.

    Here’s a quick look at what else happened in UofL sports this past weekend:

    • The No. 11 men’s soccer team played visiting Clemson to a scoreless tie Friday - the Cards’ senior night - in an Atlantic Coast Conference match at Lynn Stadium. UofL (8-5-2, 4-2-1) outshot the Tigers 17-7 and had a 11-4 advantage in corner kicks. Louisville next hosts SIU Edwardsville at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night in its regular-season home finale.

    • The men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams lost to Texas, Michigan and Indiana in a quad meet in Ann Arbor, Mich. Kelsi Worrell led the women’s team, winning the 100-yard butterfly and finishing second in the 100 freestyle.

    • Freshman Pally Ray was the runner-up in the Flight B Consolation Singles Final of the men’s tennis Louisville Fall Invitational. Butler’s Billy Weldon edged Ray 6-4, 7-5.

    • The seventh-ranked field hockey team won a pair of weekend matches, both by the same score. The Cards topped visiting UC Davis 3-0 Friday evening, when they also celebrated their seniors, then won at No. 19 Indiana 3-0 on Sunday afternoon. Sophomore Lotta Kahlert, senior Rachel McCarthy and junior Victoria Stratton scored goals against the Aggies. Meanwhile senior Alyssa Voelmle, McCarthy and sophomore Shannon Sloss tallied against the Hoosiers. UofL (14-4, 3-3) closes out its regular season at noon Saturday at Michigan State.

    • The women’s soccer team fell 1-0 at Notre Dame, which is ranked seventh and ninth in a pair of national polls, in an ACC match Sunday afternoon in South Bend, Ind. The Fighting Irish scored the lone goal in the eighth minute. UofL (7-8-2, 3-4-2) closes out its regular season at 6 p.m. Saturday, when it hosts Virginia Tech.

    • Host Pittsburgh topped the volleyball team 3-1 in an ACC match Sunday in the Steel City. The Panthers outlasted Louisville 25-15, 25-17, 26-28, 29-27. Janelle Jenkins tallied a team-high 14 kills for the Cards, while Tess Clark added 10 kills and a team-best 11 blocks. UofL (13-8, 5-4) next hosts Syracuse at 7 p.m. Friday night at the KFC Yum! Center.
