    Of General Interest:

The owner of Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse trolled Heisman Trophy Winner Jameis Winston on twitter this week, claiming crab legs won’t be on the menu at Jeff Ruby’s this weekend (the Florida State quarterback was cited for stealing crab legs in Tallahassee) and the joke went a little viral. It was a joke; the menu at Jeff Ruby's will be tweaked this weekend but presumably the crab legs will still be available.

You can check out a list of the latest critical food violations in Louisville here. There’s some seriously gross stuff on here, see if your favorite restaurant is safe. Business First plans to report these quarterly; I'm sure we'll all be waiting with churning stomachs.

A Louisville couple has been inducted into the White Castle Hall of Fame for losing (combined) more than 200 lbs while eating White Castle Sliders “at least once a week.”

    Beginnings:

A vegan food truck, V-Grits, is coming to Louisville. Cutthroat Kitchen winner and Louisville chef Kristina Addington is behind the truck, which is supposed to launch in November 2014. Read more here!

A commercial agricultural park is coming to 30th St. and Muhumad Ali and will “serve the growing demand for locally produced food.” There may also be a juicery and two-acre demonstration farm in the works.

A new rooftop restaurant is coming soon to Louisville (allegedly opening in early November) adjacent to the Henry Clay Building in Downtown Louisville. It will have an indoor-outdoor space, cocktails, and small plates.

The Kentucky Department of Travel and Tourism has launched a new website to promote culinary tourism in Kentucky: KentuckyCuisine.com The beautiful new website includes a list of Farmer’s Markets, Fall Festivals, and the chance to highlight the food of Appalachia.

Copper & Kings is officially open, though frankly they’ve had so many rad events and parties over the past few months most of us thought they were already officially open.

    Endings

Habana Blues, in New Albany, is moving a few blocks over to 320 Pearl Street. The new location will be bigger and have more space for parking and live entertainment.

CeFiore in the Highlands is closing for good, after seven years in Louisville. Some speculate that the competition at that particular intersection (Eastern Parkway and Bardstown Road) was a little too hot for the frozen treat shop to survive.

Tumbleweed on the River claims a settlement has been reached in their ongoing legal battle. The riverfront restaurant was previously served eviction papers, as their landlord company, Waterweed, claimed they had not paid rent in months.

    Events:

On October 25, Bluegrass Brewing Company is hosting a Halloween party, featuring Steve Wik & Soul Funk. There will be a $5 cover to the party, which will be held in BBC’s St. Matthews location, and BBC will also be releasing their seasonal pumpkin ale and hosting a Halloween costume contest.

ReSurfaced will close out this weekend with an awesome fried chicken throwdown. On Saturday, October 25 from 3 – 6 p.m. restaurants including Loop 22 Wiltshire on Market, Silver Dollar, Roux, and the Monkey Wrench will be vying for best fried chicken and best side dishes. Admission is free, but tastes will be sold for $3/chicken $2/sides.

Bardstown Bound Boo Fest is also this weekend, with many chances to participate in beer and food specials at restaurants like the Dragon King’s Daughter.

    Etc.

Down One Bourbon Bar is really making a name for itself nationally.

Sunergos Coffee’s espresso was named America’s Best Espresso, which is like the Academy Award for best picture of caffeinated beverages.

A study of the economic impact of bourbon has been released, and the results are pretty awesome.
