If you were in attendance at this year’s outrageously successful GonzoFest, then of course you’re well aware of one of Louisville’s most impressive artists, 1200. Not only did the talented group of musicians serve as the impressive headliner of this year’s festival, but they created an entire new spin on what it means to be a part of GonzoFest. And they’re not quite finished showing Louisville just how creative they can be.

1200 frontman, Jecorey Arthur, shares that his set at GonzoFest was the pure product of thorough Hunter S. Thompson research. Arthur studied the Gonzo genre for weeks after landing 1200’s spot on the lineup, which was shown throughout his entire set which included 3 different musical journeys. The sections were divided to express his artistic youth, growth, and triumph, all in true Hunter S. Thompson fashion, of course.

Though very pleased with his successful GonzoFest performance, Arthur is ready to once again move forward and venture into what’s next on the agenda for 1200, starting with his new album. Arthur says this one will be very different from their past projects.

“We’re really releasing a double album,” Arthur announces. “It’s going to be similar to T.I.’s T.I. Vs. T.I.P. album. It’s going to be like light versus dark.”

The first compilation in this double album will be titled Unbridled Spirit and will feature several acoustic and instrumental tracks and will include very little rap. “This is the ‘happy’ album,” Arthur says.

The second part of the double release is set to be titled Séance and will serve as the darker side of the project. It will feature 1200’s new single, "Resurrection." “This entire part of the album is communication with the underworld,” Arthur explains. “It’s definitely the dark album.” Arthur says his listeners can expect more rapping and more bass from this album.

The new double album is set to be released this summer after Arthur completes his final semester at the University of Louisville and graduates in May. And after the release, you can catch 1200 on tour with A Lion Named Roar starting in August! But until then, you can check out 1200’s current music here.
