    Willow Park | Barkitecture Louisville 2016
    Barkitecture 2016 is an event designed to raise awareness of the plight of homeless animals in our community through the innovative design of living structures for dogs. This is the premiere event, but the goal is to host an annual event that will eventually expand to living and play structures for cats as well.
    Participants will be invited to submit completed doghouses in several categories. Attendees will be invited to bid on the doghouses through a silent auction. Adoptable dogs and cats will also be on hand in the hopes they find their forever homes.
    Monies raised will go to the Capital Campaign Fund for a new LMAS facility for the animals in our community.

    Speed Art Museum | Social Speed
    Come break the ice with us at our very first Social Speed as we welcome new and returning visitors! On the second Thursday of each month, Social Speed offers special tours, bars, and adult art lab activities from 6 to 9pm. This month features the debut of a quarterly series "The Defenders" in which local well-known figures are invited to pick one of their guilty pleasure films, share it with the audience, and defend their choice after the screening. The audience is sworn to secrecy about what is screened. This month, artist, actor, and musician Will Oldham shares a cinematic gem.

    Laughing Derby | Chad Daniels 
    In 1974 a couple of teenagers decided to skip their post-prom party and go ‘necking’ instead. 9 ½ months later… a star was born. And in the delivery room next to the star… Chad Daniels was born. It’s always been like that. So close yet so far away.
    In 2003, Chad performed as a finalist in Comedy Central’s Laugh Riots competition, the Montreal Just for Laughs Festival, which got him enough attention to make his network television debut on the Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn. Since then he has released his debut comedy album ‘Two Minutes for Stale Hacking’, performed on Comedy Central’s ‘Live at Gotham’, recorded his second album ‘Busy Being Awesome’ which is due out this spring on Stand-up Records, and taped his own half hour special ‘Comedy Central Presents… Chad Daniels.’

    OPEN Gallery | One Night Only: Tanatus Joei Live

    Bernheim Forest | Creatures of the Night: Frogs & Toads
    Spring is an opera, complete with throaty vocals, high pitched vibratos, and an expert cast of creatures, each playing its part in this ancient drama. Our Creatures of the Night series provides opportunities to experience the sights and sounds of nature dramas that often go unnoticed. Journey via van into sections of Bernheim where crepuscular and nocturnal creatures are most active. Led by Bill Napper and fellow Volunteer Naturalists, each program includes some hiking through easy terrain. This month we’ll be looking for frogs and toads, but expect to encounter other creatures of the night. Let’s be surprised! Ages age 8 up only. No pets allowed.     Louisville Zoo | Penguin Cove Opening
    Guest experiences near the Islands exhibit area will greatly be enhanced with a new penguin exhibit and the introduction of a new species of penguins – “Little” Penguins. Penguin Cove will give guests the opportunity to observe the penguins’ social, natural behaviors in an outdoor exhibit area.
