    Taste of Frankfort Avenue at Clifton Center

    Enjoy sampling savory nibbles and sweet treats from over twenty of the finest restaurants along Frankfort Avenue! This year will mark the 22nd anniversary of The Taste, which serves as the Clifton Center’s largest fundraising event. This much-anticipated annual event celebrates the wonderful and unique restaurants located on and near Frankfort Avenue. Participants include some of Louisville’s finest gourmet eateries including Porcini, Varanese, Bistro 1860, Volare, and Bourbon’s Bistro, as well as high quality casual favorites such as North End Café, Irish Rover, Gary’s on Spring, Silver Dollar, Coal’s Artisan Pizza, Homemade Ice Cream & Pie Kitchen, Crave Café, Boombozz Pizza, the Comfy Cow, Vint, and Heine Brothers Coffee.

    Kentucky Proud Wine & Chocolate Tasting at Louisville Stoneware

    Held in Stoneware’s new GE Monogram Experience Kitchen, the June 19 Third Thursday Lifestyle Series will feature Old 502 Wine and Cellar Door Chocolate tastings, both Kentucky Proud products. This free event is designed to showcase authentic, local makers of products that complement the Stoneware products and lifestyle. Attendees can expect to meet Logan Leet, Owner of Old 502 Winery, and Erika Chavez, Owner of Cellar Door Chocolates, who will explain their processes and sample products. Stoneware staff will be on hand to answer questions about products including the Stoneware Wine Coolers that can be stored in the freezer and used to keep wine chilled.

    Dig Into Bourbon History at Moonshine University

    On Thursday, June 19 from 6 to 8 p.m., Moonshine University will host an enthusiast class on Bourbon History with historian and author Michael Veach. Bourbon lovers looking to raise their liquor IQ will learn the story of Kentucky’s native spirit from the Kentucky Bourbon Whiskeyauthor through interactive presentations and a sensory evaluation. The two-hour class, which takes place the week after Father’s Day, is a great choice for a father/son or father/daughter outing.     T-Claw Returns with Fiddle Pie to Third Thursday HoedownThe Third Thursday Hoedown in Germantown returns June 19, graced by the man who started it all himself, the man who, along with his old time band Fiddle Pie, swings by Louisville on their summer Biscuit Country Tour. T-Claw calls square dances all over the country with an upbeat style that is just as appealing to seasoned dancers as it is to beginners. This monthly social event is open to all ages and all levels of experience. All dances are taught, and no one is required to dance. There's always a partner to be found on the dance floor, and there is no dress code, though one’s twirliest skirt is recommended. Doors open at 7, with a beginner’s square dance workshop at 7:30, and dancing will take place from 8-10:30, featuring predominantly simple and traditional southern figures. Guests may dance as many or as few as they like, and anyone can dance with anyone regardless of gender.

    Daughters of Greatness: Cathe Dykstra at the Ali Center

    Throughout the year, the Daughters of Greatness breakfast series invites prominent women engaged in social philanthropy, activism, and pursuits of justice to share their stories with the Louisville community. The Daughters of Greatness series provides a place for dialogue and discussion on current issues of justice, community engagement, and social movements within the Louisville area and beyond. Cathe Dykstra is the Chief Possibility Officer (President & CEO) of Family Scholar House, whose mission is to end the cycle of poverty by providing support to disadvantaged single parents and their children.

    In addition to exciting, live Thoroughbred racing, entertainment will include local DJs at locations around the track, live beach party music performance by Lunar Beach House, and traditional hula dancers.     Va Va Variety with the Va Va Vixens at Headliner's
    The Va Va Vixens formed in 2009 and have since become Louisville, Kentucky’s largest and most popular burlesque troupe. With over 25 performers, male and female, the Vixens produce several resident shows per year at Headliner’s Music Hall, host special performances at Art Sanctuary, as well as entertain at private and public events.     2014 Kentuckiana Pride Festival on the Belvedere
    Join us on the Belvedere for an afternoon of music, food, drinks, and community expo.     A Midsummer Night's Dream at Shakespeare in the Park

    Kentucky Shakespeare’s annual Shakespeare in the Park offers opportunities for people of all ages to enjoy the works of Shakespeare in the beautiful outdoor setting of Old Louisville’s Central Park. The 2014 Shakespeare in the Park Summer Season begins with A Midsummer Night's Dream, directed by Matt Wallace, which runs from June 12-22. This is the last day of the play, so be sure to see it while you can!

    Spring Fling Craft/Vendor Fair to Benefit Special Olympics
    We are hosting a Craft Fair/Vendor event at the Louisville Firefighters Union Hall at 400 Baker's Lane to benefit Special Olympics Kentucky. This fundraiser will help us put together two teams for the UPS Plane Pull in October. We have a wide variety of vendors and crafters on board ready to share their unique items with you. We also have Special Olympics athletes working our booths and sharing information about why they love Special Olympics.
