    To Sir With Love

    To celebrate Paul McCartney’s first ever visit to Louisville, Abbey Road on the River will host a 3-day tribute festival in his honor from October 24-26, 2014. The event will be held at the Belvedere Festival Park and Galt House Hotel and feature panel discussions and performances by three of Paul’s former Wings band members - Denny Laine, Laurence Juber and Steve Holley, as well as Rock-n-Roll Hall of Famer Terry Sylvester of The Hollies and many other bands.

    Carolina Chocolate Drops at the Clifton Center
    The Carolina Chocolate Drops, whose first recording won a Best Traditional Folk Album Grammy, have proved that old-time, fiddle and banjo-based music could be a living, ever-evolving sound. They have built a large and enthusiastic following, as evidenced by their sold out performance at the Clifton Center in 2011.

    Chili Night Out at The Peterson-Dumesnil House
    The Crescent Hill Community Council will host this free, family-friendly event. Bring a dish to share, or just come and enjoy hot dogs, special "Crescent Hill recipe" chili, s'mores, ghost stories, and mingling with fellow neighbors. Costumes are welcome!

    Frankie Ballard at Mercury Ballroom
    Country music singer/songwriter Frankie Ballard is riding high thanks to his immediate classic Helluva Life, which scaled Billboard’s country airplay chart earlier this year. Ballard, 31, has followed up “Helluva Life” with a summertime smash “Sunshine & Whiskey,” the title track to his hit sophomore album. “My bread and butter is playing live,” Ballard says. “I’m always trying to push myself to the next level with my stage performance.”

    18th Century Market Fair at Locust Grove
    You are invited to join Locust Grove and the Illinois Regiment of Virginia as they bring the spirit of the past alive with the Market Fair. Participate in 18th century style entertainment, purchase replicas of 18th century military and household items, enjoy food and drink, and meet and converse with early Americans. Mock battles for our country’s independence feature General George Rogers Clark’s own militia, the Illinois regiment, as well as British Dragoons and Marines, and German Hessians. Native Americans will be present as well - whose side will they be on this year?

    Halloween in Brown Park
    Come get your spook on at Brown Park! We'll be playing games, grooving to the music and passing out candy to the kiddos. Over 2,000 children attended in 2013 and we are looking for another record breaking crowd this year! Join the jam packed three hours of fun your family can have. The St. Matthews Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of St. Matthews are offering games, hayrides, a petting zoo, a fire truck, inflatables, entertainment, trick-or-treating, plus a whole lot more. Family’s will walk along the paths through the “haunted forest” collecting goodies from area businesses who will be set up along the way, awaiting the little “ghosts and goblins” with treats and surprises.

    11th Annual Bardstown Bound Boo Fest
    Schlafly Beer, Bardstown Road, Baxter Avenue and The Douglass Loop celebrate Halloween in the Highlands! The Highlands shops, restaurants and bars open their doors and sidewalks for yet another scary event of shopping, sampling savings and drinking good beer on our city’s favorite strip. Schlafly Beer is happy to host its 11th year of bringing the BOO to the Bound!

    Fried Chicken Throw Down at ReSurfaced
    The Fried Chicken Throw Down will be the closing event at ReSurfaced, concluding a six-week run of activities since the pop-up plaza was initiated on September 19th. This culinary competition will award cash prizes of $500 to the Best Chicken and $500 to the Best Side, and the winners will be selected by ballot voting among the attendees.
