Whisky Chicks Hometown Sampler Nov. 12
    Print this page

The last leg of The Kentucky Sampler is next week.  This is also the last event of the year for The Kentucky Whisky Chicks, who entered the bourbon world with a bang just over a year ago.  The objective of this organization is to bring women who are interested in bourbon together to have fun and meet new people, but also to learn about bourbon.

So far in the past year there have been a few casual Whisky Chicks meetups at places like Haymarket Whiskey Bar and Manny and Merle as well as several major events.  The Bourbon Mixer at The Evan Williams Bourbon Experience raised over $10,000 for the Coalition for the Homeless.  This organization isn’t just a fun name- they are getting out there and making things happen.

The Kentucky Sampler is no exception to this.  Women, and a few men, who love bourbon got together at Westport Whiskey and Wine for the first two sessions of a three part series that explores Kentucky Bourbon by region.  This is an interesting approach to bourbon education, as it takes into account the slight differences in the bourbon producing regions of Kentucky and how they came to be historically.  The first session explored bourbons from The Salt River basin, including Jim Beam and Maker’s Mark.  The second session explored bourbons from The Kentucky River basin, including Wild Turkey and Four Roses.  The third session, which will take place next week on 11/12, will explore bourbons from the Louisville area, including Old Forester and Heaven Hill.
