    Bourbon, BBQ & Bottle Signings at the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience

    The Evan Williams Bourbon Experience is celebrating the arrival of spring by hosting a Bourbon, BBQ & Bottle Signings event in conjunction with the First Friday Hop on Fri., April 3. The festivities will take place in an open-house format include free tours of the artisanal distillery and visitor’s center, in addition to educational Bourbon tastings for guests of legal drinking age.
    Evan Williams Bourbon Experience Artisanal Distiller Charlie Downs and Heaven Hill Master Distiller Denny Potter will be available for bottle signings and photo opportunities with Hop guests. Michael Veach, author of Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey, will also be on hand signing copies of his book. Complimentary BBQ-themed appetizers will be provided by Jarfi’s Catering, in addition to a cash bar inside the basement Prohibition-era Speakeasy room, accessed only through a faux safe door in the wall. Each guest in attendance will also have an opportunity to win an assortment of door prizes, including various Bourbon-themed items, Evan Williams apparel and gift certificates to local restaurants, hotels and attractions.

    Derby Hat Sample Sale at the Kentucky Derby Museum
    Over 200 Derby hats will be available, with none priced over $75 and some as low as $29.99! The event will be held in the Museum's second floor Pollard Gallery, and the 2015 hat collection will also be available.

    Axton Reading Series: Paul Griner at Ekstrom Library
    The English department’s creative writing program brings in distinguished writers through the Anne and William Axton Reading Series of free literary events. The readings and master classes are open to the public. Paul Griner, UofL English professor, novelist and short-story author, will read this weekend.

    The 23rd Annual Frankfort Avenue Easter Parade
    This year's Frankfort Avenue Easter Parade, the 23rd held annually will run from Kennedy to Haldeman Avenue. Anyone who wants to participate in the Easter Parade should register in front of the St. Mark's Church, 2822 Frankfort Avenue by 11 a.m. on the day of the parade. Parade line-up is first come first serve.
