UofL's African American Theatre Program at Thrust Theatre
Preeminent poet, actress and playwright Dael Orlandersmith will visit UofL to lead a four-day playwriting workshop. A New York native, Orlandersmith toured as a performer with the Nuyorican Poets Café and appeared in an episode of “Spin City” before turning her focus to playwriting. She is an OBIE award-winner for her play, Beauty’s Daughter, in which also starred. Her play, Yellowman, earned her a Pulitzer Prize nomination and several other playwriting awards. During the workshop, Orlandersmith will work with participants as they craft individual scriptsThe workshop, held March 27-30, is presented by the African American Theatre Program and the New York Dramatists Guild. A reception will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, March 28 in Thrust Theatre, 2314 S. Floyd St. After playwriting sessions Thursday-Saturday, plays will be staged from 3-7 p.m. Sunday in Thrust Theatre. The performances are free and open to the public..

Macy’s Kentucky Derby Festival Spring Fashion Show
The Kentucky Derby Festival Spring Fashion show is Kentuckiana’s premiere fashion show of the year. The show will feature a runway of the latest in Derby and spring outfits and accessories. Local fashion brands and local boutique items will be presented, including: Boutique Serendipity, Rodeo Drive, Cargo, Pink Julep Boutique, Dress and Dwell, and many more. Official 2014 Derby Festival merchandise will be on sale. The cocktails begin at 5:30 PM and dinner is at 7 PM. The fashion show begins at 8 PM. Sponsored by Macy’s. March Organized Saddle Club Horse Ride at O’Bannon Woods

Hello Dolly! At the Kentucky Center for the Arts
The As Yet Unnamed Theatre Company will present HELLO, DOLLY! a Musical Comedy with music and lyrics by Jerry Herman and Book by Michael Stewart at the MEX Theater in the Kentucky Center For The Arts. The story revolves around Mrs. Dolly Gallagher Levi, a matchmaker who is engaged in the process of finding Mr. Horace Vandegelder, the well-known half -millionaire a suitable second wife. Her plan unfurls with matching his two shop assistants, Cornelius and Barnaby with Ms. Malloy (the milliner) and Minnie Fay, his niece Ermengarde with Ambrose Kemper and saving Horace for herself. Musical numbers include: “Ribbons Down my Back”, “Put On Your Sunday Clothes”, “Before the Parade Passes By”, “It Only Takes a Moment” and “Hello, Dolly!”.
