“We’re not supportive of Obamacare, like most businesses in our industry. But our business model and unit economics are about as ideal as you can get for a food company to absorb Obamacare.”
“Looking back, it seems like there wasn’t anything Democrats, including the President, weren’t willing to promise in order to get this bill across the finish line. As then-Speaker Pelosi famously said, ‘We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it.’”
"This president's attempt to intimidate the Supreme Court falls well beyond distasteful politics; it demonstrates a fundamental lack of respect for our system of checks and balances.”
“I just have one question before this morning’s vote, one simple question. Is this really the best we can do? Is this the best we have to offer folks who are staring at $4 a gallon gasoline? A bill that even Democrats admit won’t do anything to lower the price of gas? And a process that blocks any other idea from even coming to the floor for a vote?"
"Recent actions by the Obama Administration related to the President’s health care law have prompted many of us here, and many across the country, to stand up in defense of another freedom that’s covered in the First Amendment, and that’s religious freedom.”
“Make no mistake: the Obama Administration’s decision to force religious hospitals, charities, and schools to comply with a mandate that violates their religious views is abhorrent to the foundational principles of our nation. No one in the United States of America should ever be compelled by their government to choose between violating their religious beliefs or be penalized for refusing. Yet that’s precisely what this mandate would do.”
Never before has the federal government forced individuals and organizations to go out into the marketplace and buy a product that violates their conscience.
"Americans have rejected the law's mandate that they must buy government-approved health insurance, and I hope the Supreme Court will do the same."
The High Court will be deciding a number of potentially "landmark" cases this term; not the least of which is the battle over President Obama's scheme for health care reform, the Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare").
"It's just a shame and an affront to the American people that a president who proclaimed that he wanted more transparency in government has chosen to fight tooth and nail to keep his communications with lobbyists secret. This ruling is a huge victory for the American people's right to know what their government is doing behind closed doors."
Now, it appears that Rep. Wilson was right after all; President Obama was not telling the truth when he said ObamaCare would not cover illegal aliens.
"I am encouraged to see that the 11th Circuit ruled to uphold liberty and protect the general police powers reserved to the states by ruling Obamacare unconstitutional. Jack Conway believes that Obamacare is irrelevant to his job as Attorney General. When I'm Attorney General, the Constitution will be relevant to this job."
