Communities will discuss their improvements to law enforcement at White House
On Monday, January 21st, our nation will celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day as well as the inauguration of President Barack Obama. The Muhammad Ali Center invites the community to celebrate both with them.
“As a strong supporter of marriage equality, I am proud that President Obama has joined the millions of Americans committed to equal rights and fairness for all our citizens,” Yarmuth said. “This is a historic day for loving and committed gay and lesbian couples and their families across our country.”
"The only real challenge in this debate is coaxing the President off of the campaign trail and up to the negotiating table, to get him to choose results over rallies.”
"This president's attempt to intimidate the Supreme Court falls well beyond distasteful politics; it demonstrates a fundamental lack of respect for our system of checks and balances.”
“Any of you who have a business know that when you raise taxes on a business, it's simply a cost to doing business. When your costs increase from making your product, what do you do? You charge your consumer more.”
Our president and Kentucky’s senior senator are locked in a fierce battle that has nothing to do with bailouts or raising the debt ceiling. They are in a bracket war.
“What he fails to mention,” said McConnell, “is that we’ve been working off the President’s blueprint for three years. And what’s it gotten us: millions still looking for work, trillions in debt, and the first credit downgrade in U.S. history.”
One protest this week highlighted the flood of money and corporate influence into politics. Another highlighted the question of whether, given this flood, the voice of the people can still be heard.
In which I speculate that Mitch McConnell is plotting a coup d'etat, and that President Obama has already begun defending against it.
If Congressman Yarmuth's proposed Constitutional amendment to overturn the Citizens United decision "panders" to anyone, it is to a stupendously vast, bipartisan, majority of the American public.
