As the weekend came to a sobering and screeching halt, so did the close of Forecastle. After a weekend full of drinking in the sun and listening to live music, a fan looks back.

Coming from a this one man band/DJ/whatever you'd like to call this guy, Bassnectar was the unexpected part headliner that blew both my socks and The Smashing Pumpkins off the stage.
Before this past Saturday I had no idea who Bassnectar was, or why someone that I had never heard of was going on in between such large acts as Devo and The Smashing Pumpkins.  Not until I saw the crew setting up the stage did I even realize that this was just a DJ, and not even a band at all.  But...

Though the two days I hit Forecastle were great, the surge of hippies that engulfed the stage was greater. Good times hanging out with the stench of body odor and live music.
Press passes were limited for our publication during this year's Forecastle event, so I was only able to get a ticket for the Sunday show, but wanted to catch bands that were playing both Saturday & Sunday.  So rather than pay the additional sixty or seventy bucks to get in, I decided to get...

I want to like Devo. I really do. I remember I need to whip it, whip it good. Stephen Colbert taught me it’s time to trade in my red pyramid hat for a blue one. I’m even intrigued by the fact that they based their entire new album on market research. That could be good. Or at least interesting. Or not.
